What is a Lanyard?

A lanyard is a strap or cord which is worn around the neck, wrist, arm or waist to hold keys, an ID badge, a whistle or another small object. Neck lanyards are the most common type. Lanyards and Custom Printing

Custom printed lanyards are printed with either screen printing, dye sublimation or hot stamping. Screen printing gives good results to your customized lanyards and the results lasts for a long time. Your artwork is transferred to a fine mesh screen, which is laid over the lanyard, and the colored ink is applied over the mesh screen. A squeegee pushes the ink through the screen to make the design on the lanyard fabric. Heat cures the ink to make the printing high resolution and durable.

Dye sublimation can be used for highly detailed and multicolored customized lanyard designs. The design is transferred to a fine paper which uses dye sublimation inks. The paper goes on top of the lanyard and pressure and heat are used to enmesh the design in the lanyard material. The design goes on smoothly and stays that way, stopping it from fading or rubbing off.

To hot stamp custom printed lanyards, a plate is heated and then a color film is placed on the lanyard. Pressure is used to the plate, the film is heated and the customized design is transferred to the lanyard. Hot stamping uses just one color and this method is the cheapest. Hot stamping is sued for student badges, trade shows, reunions and similar events.
